Wilmington’s original settlement on the Cape Fear River drove its early economy. From its port, local farmers shipped produce, turpentine, rosin, tar, and pitch – which were all needed by the Royal Navy of the late 18th century.

Wilmington is still a sizeable seaport, and is home to the North Carolina State Ports Authority. But today, Wilmington’s largest employers are in the healthcare, retail, and hospitality industries. It’s also known as a manufacturing base for electrical, medical, and telecommunications equipment, as well as pharmaceuticals, food processing, and paper products.

In the late 20th century, Wilmington embraced its potential as a tourist destination. Not only does it boast three nearby beaches – Wrightsville, Carolina, and Kure – but it’s also developed and maintained a nearly 2-mile Riverwalk. Here, visitors are treated to shopping and restaurants, as well as such historic sites as the USS North Carolina Battleship and the 1914 Murchison Building. In 2015, USA Today named Wilmington’s Riverwalk the “Top Riverfront” in the United States.

But Wilmington is more than a destination for tourists; in 2019, it was ranked by Forbes as the 30th “Best Place for Businesses and Careers” and the 12th in “Cost of Doing Business.” Its steady growth in terms of both population and jobs, plus its relatively low cost of living, make it an attractive location for any industry.

Richmond Rack has over 20 years in the material handling industry. We know we owe our success to the partnerships we form with the communities we serve. We connect businesses of every industry throughout the Mid-Atlantic Coast to the equipment they need at the prices they want. We offer racking, guardrails, and rack repair, as well as conveyors, mezzanines and industrial platforms, wire decking, and pallet jacks.

Our large inventory of over 20,000 items, coupled with our custom ordering, allows us to deliver what you need when you need it.

Mezzanines and industrial platforms allow you to maximize your facility’s cubic footage. By building up into unused space, you can create break rooms or work rooms, or add lockers or other storage options. Whether you need custom mezzanines or a free-standing kit, we either have what you need on-hand or know where to go to source it quickly. Our expert technicians are also available for installation and assembly.

Our new and used pallet and cantilever racks are another cost-effective method of using a facility’s cubic space. Pallet racks maximize storage and ease of accessibility. Cantilever racks are perfect for long, bulky items such as furniture or lumber. Add wire decking to pallet racks to make it easier to store open- and split-case product, as well as increase the safety of your facility.

Improve the efficiency of moving product through your facility with the addition of conveyors or carton flow racking. Even simple roller-and-wheels conveyors can remove the physical strain of multiple loading and unloading cycles. Powered conveyors allow the speed of movement to be carefully controlled, and sortation and accumulation conveyors can streamline your entire operation.

Help protect your investments and keep your facilities safe for your employees through our line of guardrails and rack repair products.

At Richmond Rack, we’ll do more for you than provide the materials. We’ll help you configure your warehouses and other facilities to more effectively store and move your product.

Unsure what you need? Contact us today to learn more about our racking applications and warehouse configurations.

We sell only the most trusted brands of new and used warehouse equipment.
